My word of the Year is…Authentic

My word of the year (more or less) picked me, instead of the other way around.

Last week’s blog post showed up a bit out of sequence, and I promised you that I would come back here and tell you how Authentic came to be.

I’ve had some years that it was a much harder choice to select what was ‘my’ word. This one hit me like a lightning bolt and just stayed with me. As I turned it over in my head for a week or two, nothing else even was in the running. It just made sense, and it also set things in motion (starting in mid-December) that have put me on a much more honest pathway for this year.

In short, when you know, you know.

It worked when I met my husband in ‘78, and was engaged to him a short 3 weeks later. That’s not a typo - but 45 years later, we’re still going strong.

In December, I was asked to do something professionally for someone what I felt at the time was a step backwards in my career.

My gut said no, my brain said well, maybe if the money is good enought…

My gut won, and I have found peace with that ever since then.

That’s where the tagline for the WOTY came in for me…

If it’s not a Hell Yes…it’s No Thank You.

I’ve heard it many times over the years, but somehow it’s become my

battle cry for this year.

I’m intrigued as to where this will take me this year.

Next week, I’ll have a much more interesting story for you, but it probably won’t be published until Thursday.

Have a great week!

Linda
